Privacy.

The short version

• Your project files, the record TruthSpine builds from them, and everything your AI chats report stay on your computer. We never receive them.
• Your project stays on your computer. A cloud agent sees it only if you connect one through Remote access, and then what it reads goes to that agent's company, not to us.
• Usage data is off unless you turn it on. When it's on, it's anonymous counts: no ids, no project names and nothing you typed.
• Purchases go through the Microsoft Store, the Mac App Store or Stripe, each under its own privacy terms.
• This website uses no cookies. It counts visits and Download clicks without knowing who you are.
• You can delete a project's record, or everything TruthSpine keeps, from Settings at any time.

What stays on your computer

TruthSpine reads the folders and repositories you add and builds a record of the project: decisions, work done, evidence, open questions, next steps, and the accounts, inboxes and services your chats describe. That record, the history behind it, and your settings live in TruthSpine's data folder on your computer. The folder's location and size are shown in Settings.

Folders you leave out are not learned from. Files named like secret files are never opened. Where a document contains something that looks like a password or key, TruthSpine withholds it and never shows or stores it; the record keeps only a pointer to where a credential lives, never the credential.

If you connect a GitHub repository, the sign-in TruthSpine receives is kept in an encrypted store on your computer and used only to read that repository.

What leaves your computer, and why

Licensing

On Windows and Mac, your trial and purchase go through the Microsoft Store or the Mac App Store. TruthSpine asks the store whether you have a licence; the stores' own privacy terms apply to your account there. TruthSpine also checks the time with truthspine.app, at most every six hours, without sending anything.

On Linux, you buy through Stripe and receive a licence key. One purchase covers up to three of your own Linux computers, and you can move it between them in the app. To run the trial and check the licence, TruthSpine contacts our licence service at license.truthspine.app when it starts, about every six hours, and when you enter a key or deactivate a computer. It sends a scrambled (hashed) id for the computer, the platform, the app version, a random install id and how you found the app, plus the licence key once you have one. It never sends your computer's name, your files or your chats. The service keeps a record of the purchase, the activation and any deactivation. It never receives anything about your project.

If you follow the buy link in the TruthSpine extension for VS Code, it notes which marketplace and system you came from, with a random code, so your Linux purchase can find your app.

Usage data, only if you turn it on

Settings has a switch called "Share product usage analytics". It is off until you turn it on. When it's on, TruthSpine sends anonymous counts, like "the app was opened today on Windows". Each count says what happened, the day (not the time), your system, the app version, where you got the app, whether you're on the trial or bought it, which kind of AI app was used, how you found TruthSpine, and how it went. It also carries a random code used only so we don't count it twice; we delete that code within 8 days.

It never sends an install, licence, trial, store or customer id, the names or paths of your projects or repositories, your files, your chats, anything you typed, or your computer's name. We keep only daily totals, and nothing in them points to a person, a purchase or a computer. Turn it off and the sending stops.

Remote access, only if you set it up

Remote access lets a cloud agent such as ChatGPT, Claude, Meta Muse or Grok read your project record through a private connection in your own free Cloudflare account. We do not run that connection and do not see what passes through it. What an agent reads goes to that agent's company, like anything you type into it. Each connection is approved by you, for one project, read only unless you allow more, and can be paused or removed at any time. The app says all of this before the first connection.

Connected AI tools

When a tool on your computer, such as Claude Code or Cursor, reads the record, the tool sends what it reads to its own provider as part of your conversation with it, under that provider's terms. TruthSpine does not add any recipient of its own.

Support bundles

If you ask for help, you can create a support bundle from Settings and send it to us yourself. It holds product diagnostics only, without project source, prompts, licence data or known credentials.

Updates and notices

Updates arrive through the store you installed from, or from truthspine.app on Linux. TruthSpine checks truthspine.app for a newer version when it starts, at most every six hours, without sending anything. It also fetches the short notices shown at the top of the app, at most every six hours, sending only your licence type, platform and app version. We count those checks each day by licence type, platform and app version, to know how many copies are in use. Nothing else about the check is kept: no address and no id.

TruthSpine has no crash reporting and loads no fonts or other files from the internet.

This website

truthspine.app and timeprooflabs.com use no cookies and store nothing in your browser. They count visits in two ways, and neither knows who you are.

Cloudflare Web Analytics counts page views, the country, the kind of browser and device, and the site that sent you, without cookies or fingerprinting. Cloudflare's privacy terms apply.

On truthspine.app, our licence service also gets one count for each page you open and for each Download or Buy link you click. A count says which page, which store the link leads to, whether you're on a phone, a tablet or a computer, the name of the site that sent you, any campaign tags in the page address, and the time. It carries a random code made fresh on every page, so your visits can't be linked to each other or to you. We don't keep your IP address or your browser details, and nothing you typed is sent.

What we keep, and for how long

Purchase and licence records for Linux purchases, for as long as the licence exists and as long as accounting rules require. Support emails you send us, for as long as the conversation needs. Daily usage totals, if you turned usage data on; nothing in them points to a person, a purchase or a computer. The website's page and Download counts. Nothing else.

Your choices

• Leave any folder out of learning, from the project page.
• Turn usage statistics on or off in Settings.
• Pause, renew or remove any Remote access connection, or turn Remote access off with one switch.
• Delete a project's TruthSpine data, or all app data, in Settings. Your own project files are never deleted.
• Ask us to delete the licence or support records we hold about you by writing to support@truthspine.app.
